The Role Logistics

This role is a part-time contractor role to help us with hiring several roles in the next couple of months. We are looking for regular commitment of 15–25 hours per week through December / January, with the potential for growth into other people ops responsibilities internally and for our clients.

  • This is a 100% remote position and we always will be a remote-first company. International candidates are welcome to apply.
  • While there is flexibility of hours, this role must be available for prompt responses between Eastern time zone standard business hours of 9am-6pm EST.
  • 1099 subcontractor hourly position $25-$35/hr based on direct experience.

Responsibilities and Areas of Need

The Talent Acquisition Partner role is the engine of our hiring excellence — the person who ensures we bring in only the highest-caliber talent to match our fast-paced, demanding, and deeply experienced team of operators. This role blends strategic hiring, sharp candidate evaluation, operational rigor, and exceptional communication. You will own our internal hiring campaigns end-to-end, anticipate needs, filter for quality, and protect leadership time by driving clarity, momentum, and high-signal decision-making.

You’ll partner closely with our CEO and Team Success Director to understand role needs, refine success profiles, and ensure we hire people who can thrive in a high-bar, startup-operator environment. We move quickly and expect the same — we’re looking for someone who can translate ambiguity into structure, instinctively assess talent, and uphold an exceptional candidate experience from start to finish.

This role ensures we consistently hire the right people, in the right seats, so Magical Teams can scale with confidence, precision, and uncompromising quality.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end internal hiring campaigns, including role intake, job descriptions, scorecards, posting, sourcing strategy, and candidate pipeline management.
  • Evaluate candidates with high discernment through resume reviews, application assessments, phone screens, interviews, and scenario-based evaluations.
  • Protect leadership time by filtering out underqualified or misaligned applicants early and providing clear recommendations on top candidates.
  • Conduct high-signal, structured phone screens that reveal real skills, thinking patterns, communication ability, and role fit.
  • Oversee all hiring operations and admin execution: scheduling, communication, follow-ups, documentation, pipeline tagging, and candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking of candidates, stages, next steps, and hiring metrics across platforms.
  • Improve and maintain MT hiring workflows, SOPs, automations, templates, and evaluation documentation.
  • Support leaders in refining success profiles, competencies, and structured interview processes for each role.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks across the hiring funnel, escalating risks, misalignments, or candidate concerns proactively.
  • Uphold MT’s employer brand through clear, kind, professional communication and an equitable, respectful candidate experience.
  • Provide weekly updates on hiring progress, candidate quality, pipeline health, timelines, and next-step recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Team Success Director and CEO to ensure alignment, clarity, and consistent decision-making.
  • (Eventually) Lead or support hiring campaigns and People Ops projects for MT clients.

Skills That Will Enable You To Thrive:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition Partner, or People Ops specialist within a startup, agency, or B2B service environment — ideally with experience hiring for operations, strategy, marketing, or leadership roles.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior executives to refine role scopes, build scorecards, evaluate candidates, and make strategic hiring decisions.
  • You are a strategist who executes. You can zoom out to understand the true business need behind a role and zoom in to run a tight, efficient hiring process from 0→1.
  • You manage yourself like a seasoned operatorMultiple searches, shifting priorities, urgent roles — you keep everything moving without dropping balls or needing babysitting.
  • You are deeply reliable and ownership-driven. You follow through, communicate proactively, and keep everyone aligned on pipeline health, timelines, and next steps.
  • You ramp ridiculously fast. You can read a role, team, or company dynamic quickly and immediately understand what “great” vs. “misaligned” looks like.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. Give you half a role intake and you can clarify the rest — asking sharp questions and building structure where none exists.
  • You see the root causes. You can assess candidates beyond surface-level charm — understanding underlying motivations, gaps, competencies, and cultural alignment.
  • You communicate like a leader. Direct. Clear. No fluff. You can reset expectations, hold boundaries, decline candidates kindly, and maintain calm authority in difficult conversations.
  • You can hold boundaries with grace. You’re diplomatic but firm — whether redirecting candidates, pushing back on misaligned requests, or advising leaders on quality.
  • You drive hard toward outcomes. You don’t wait. You don’t stall. You move searches forward, remove bottlenecks, and create momentum even in messy hiring cycles.
  • You learn by osmosis and initiative. You absorb patterns, evaluation frameworks, and industry signals quickly — continuously sharpening your recruiting judgment.
  • You detect quality fast. You can read between the lines, spot red flags early, and differentiate between rehearsed storytelling and real capability.
  • You pick up tools fast. You can master new ATS, assessments, sourcing tools, and other new tech quickly and navigate Slack, ClickUp, Google Drive, TMetric, LastPass, and more.
  • You live our values. Clear communication. Shared ownership. Kindness. High standards. DEIB. Personal growth.
  • You’re detail-oriented. Still here? Add “I have found my peeps” to the 2nd-to-last application answer.

This role is not a fit for you if:

  • You prefer structured, predictable work over fast-changing environments.
  • You hesitate to take initiative or struggle to drive momentum.
  • You get overwhelmed by fast pivots, multiple searches, or high information volume.
